Transhumanism and Divine Humanity in Global Traditions

A significant new volume is set to enrich the global conversation on human enhancement. Transhumanism and Divine Humanity in Global Traditions, edited by Tatjana Kochetkova and Anway Mukhopadhyay, will be published by Routledge on September 25, 2026, as part of the Routledge Studies in Asian Religion and Philosophyseries.
About the Book
Amid global dialogue on the nature of human enhancement, this book traces humanity’s pursuit of self-transcendence from ancient times to the present, as reflected in diverse traditions across the globe. The volume examines how the term “transhuman” can move beyond its scientific and technological origins by linking it to ideas, symbols, and practices of transcending human limits found in Asian and global religions and philosophies.
The book brings together an international array of scholars across three thematic parts:
Part 1 explores Divine Humanity and Transhumanity in Indic Traditions, with chapters on Hindu Shakta traditions, Yogic philosophy, Jain perspectives, and more.
Part 2 addresses Transhumanism and Divine Humanity in multi-cultural contexts, covering philosophical, ethical, and spiritual issues.
Part 3 looks toward the future, examining Transhumanism, Science, and Consciousness.
